Empaistic Wall Paper

Decorative wall covering material utilizing embossed surface patterns to create tactile and visual dimension for interior wall finishes.

Manufactured by Shanghai Hanker Industrial Co., Ltd.

Product Overview

Empaistic Wall Paper is a surface-engineered interior finishing material defined by its raised, textured relief patterns. Manufactured through a controlled calendering and embossing process, this wall covering converts standard PVC or non-woven substrates into surfaces that interact with ambient light to produce shadow effects and depth. The material is designed to meet fire classification standards and utilizes phthalate-free formulations for interior air quality compliance.

The structure consists of a printed base layer overlaid with a transparent or pigmented relief coating, forming permanent topographical variations. This construction provides resistance to surface abrasion and maintains pattern integrity during installation and cleaning. Available in roll formats compatible with standard wallpaper pasting machines and hand-trimming methods.

Product Benefits

Structural characteristics that distinguish embossed wall paper from flat printed alternatives during specification and installation phases.

Substrate Irregularity Concealment

Relief surface refracts light to visually minimize minor wall undulations and joint lines.

Tactile Feedback Integration

Raised patterns provide physical texture detectable by touch, enabling wayfinding or sensory design.

Impact Point Deflection

Compressible relief absorbs low-energy contact, reducing permanent dents compared to flat vinyl.

Product Features

Construction elements integrated during the embossing and coating stages to ensure pattern retention and installation efficiency.

  •  Debossed Register: Pattern aligned to printed design within ±0.5mm tolerance
  •  Vinyl Cap Layer: 15μm clear protective overlay against pigment abrasion
  •  Moisture Vapor Permeable: ≤ 150 Sd value for mold mitigation
  •  Strike-Through Resistance: Paste blocking layer prevents adhesive migration to surface
  •  Anti-Static Surface: < 10^10 Ω/sq to reduce dust attraction
  •  Strippable Construction: Removes in full sheets without residual adhesive
  •  Reinforced Selvedge: 15mm edge zones with higher tensile modulus

Product Applications

Deployment contexts where raised surface topography contributes to spatial definition or brand environment objectives.

Hospitality Feature Walls

Headboard backdrops and lobby accent panels requiring visual weight without added physical bulk.

  •  Hotel Guest Rooms: Zone differentiation between sleeping and seating areas
  •  Restaurant Partitions: Durable surface resistant to dining chair contact
  •  Bar Fronts: Vertical surface treatment complementing horizontal wood elements

Corporate Reception Zones

Brand identity reinforcement through custom embossed logos or repetitive geometric patterns on lobby walls.

  •  Logo Integration: 0.5mm-0.8mm relief for company emblem visibility
  •  Acoustic Panels: Combined with perforated sound-absorbing backers
  •  Elevator Interiors: Scratch-resistant specification for high-traffic contact zones

Healthcare Calming Environments

MRI suites and pediatric wards where non-repetitive natural textures (bamboo, stone) reduce patient anxiety.

  •  CT Scanning Rooms: Non-reflective matte emboss to eliminate equipment glare
  •  Corridor Wainscoting: 1200mm Dado height with reinforced scrub zones

 Installation Parameter Guide

Application Context Recommended Relief Height Substrate Type Adhesive Specification Pattern Registration
Retail Window Backdrop 0.4mm - 0.6mm Non-woven Cellulose ether (light tack) Random match
Hotel Corridor 0.8mm - 1.2mm PVC Reinforced Dispersion acrylic (permanent) Straight match
Residential Accent 0.3mm - 0.5mm Paper-backed Starch-based (strippable) Drop match

 Installation Considerations

Paste Selection

Heavier emboss (≥0.8mm) requires high-tack adhesive with longer open time to prevent edge lifting.

Seam Rolling

Use 38mm seam roller with 1.5kg pressure; excessive force flattens relief on overlap seams.

Light Orientation

Grazing light from window direction accentuates relief; install panels so dominant light source aligns with pattern grain.

Acclimation

Unpack rolls 48h prior at 18°C-25°C to allow relief relaxation from roll set memory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Technical inquiries regarding material behavior, specification limits, and long-term maintenance of embossed wall finishes.

Can Empaistic Wall Paper be installed in high-humidity areas such as bathrooms?

PVC-based versions with moisture-resistant backing are suitable for Zone 3 bathroom areas (outside splash zones). Non-woven variants require complete sealing of edges with silicone to prevent wicking. The embossed profile does not trap water if vertical drainage is unimpeded.

How does the embossing pattern affect repaintability?

The material is not engineered for post-installation painting. Application of solvent-borne coatings fills low-relief areas and bridges defined edges. Water-based emulsions may cause cellulose fiber raising in non-woven substrates. Specify pre-finished colors.

Is the emboss pattern uniform across roll-to-roll joins?

Continuous production embossing maintains relief height within ±0.1mm tolerance. Pattern registration is monitored via optical sensors. Rolls from different production lots should be inspected for relief depth consistency prior to sequencing.

What cleaning methods are specified for heavily textured surfaces?

Vacuum with soft brush attachment removes dust from recesses without surface contact. For spot cleaning, use microfiber dampened with water and mild non-ionic detergent. Abrasive sponges or bristled brushes will flatten relief peaks.

Does the material contribute to room acoustic damping?

The embossed profile alone provides negligible NRC improvement (<0.05). When acoustic performance is required, specify versions pre-laminated to 2mm-3mm compressed polyester felt. The relief surface prevents flutter echo through diffusion.
